I love to cook! If you follow me on Instagram you probably already know this. ;-) I even for a brief time had a cooking channel on Youtube called HBCooks. (I have since deactivated.)
As a cook I always wanted to try cooking a turkey. Everyone always talks about how difficult they are so, I thought it would be a good challenge. A few years ago for Christmas I got my chance. I scoured the Internet looking at dozens of recipes until I found one that I liked. The one I picked was from Alton Brown. He has always been one of my favorite chefs and I have tried several of his recipes before. I knew it would be a good one.
The thing that really intrigued me was that this particular turkey recipe was that it called for the turkey to be brined. Brining is kind of like a marinade except it is salt based, which locks in the moisture. One of the biggest complaints I had heard about cooking turkey was that they would dry out. This recipe seemed to resolve that issue.
My turkey turned out SO yummy and juicy! Not dry at all! I have since used this recipe a few more times. Every time it turns out perfect. It’s much easier than I thought too. Yes, it does take some planning and effort before cooking but once it’s in the oven you’re all good.
Have you ever cooked a turkey? How did it turn out?
